Working with children is our passion and focus! Medley staff provide highly personalized and responsive music instruction to learners of all needs, interests and abilities.
Our instruction is always playful and typically includes the use of props, toys, musical instruments, puppets, and more. A typical lesson will include opportunities for vocalizing or singing, playing instruments, expressive movement (fine motor and gross motor, structured and unstructured), playing games, thinking creatively, socially connecting with others, and expressing one’s self in a variety of ways.
Most crucially, we proactively and responsively remove as many barriers to participation as possible. This can mean many different things including modifying the sensory environment/experience, offering activity-specific communication tools like choice boards and choice cards, adapting instruments and tools for varying physical needs, modifying expectations, and affirming all types of student responses. We meet students where they are. Whenever possible, we facilitate independence.
